The Automotive Technology programme is designed for people who would like to work with the most recent technology within the field of advanced electronic, hydraulic and automotive technological systems.
Become a central player for a racing team and in the car industry!
As an Automotive Technologist, you will be both up to date with new technology and will become the link between racing car drivers, mechanics, designers, sponsors and all the other stakeholders involved in keeping racing teams or the automotive industry top tuned.
BECOME AN EXPERT OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES
The Automotive Technology programme covers the advanced technologies used in the automotive industry and in racing teams. You learn to use the most advanced mechanical and electronic automotive systems, both in connection with error finding and fine tuning of cars and engines.
FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The programme provides knowledge of conditions that affect a car importer including finance and management.
KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The course does not only aim at jobs in the racing industry, but you also gain a solid knowledge about the latest developments in this field and you will be well equipped for tasks in other areas of the automotive industry.
Automotive Technology is a short cycle full-time Higher Education programme with a duration of 2 years. The language of teaching is English.
Teaching will often deal with the advanced technologies used in racing. A technician/racing engineer for a racing team is responsible for the continuous optimization of the car – both during and between races. As a racing engineer, under time pressure and in a team, you will handle data logging and adjustment of the car with regard to the driver, the weather and the track.
During the first 3 semesters, you work with professional and specialist issues – both compulsory and optional.
During the 4th semester, you are in work placement for at least three months and complete a final project in cooperation with a garage or an enterprise.
In the largest compulsory part, you will work with:
- technical documentation,
- environment and safety,
- technological counselling and communication,
- technology and understanding of design,
- engine and motive line,
- performance and telecommunications equipment,
- safety systems,
- analysis and diagnostic techniques,
- bodywork and construction.
Teaching varies between theory and practical work with focus on projects.
RACING TEAMS AT ACADEMY
Three racing teams are based at Business Academy Aarhus. The cars are used in the day-to-day teaching, which means that from your first day of studies you get relevant teaching, an industry network and contacts in the industry.
COOPERATION WITH GARAGES AND ENTRERPRISES
Cooperation with the automotive industry will primarily take place in projects where you will meet with project supervisors from the industry; but you will also have guest teachers who will teach you about the latest trends and technologies. Students will also participate in expositions and conferences within relevant technological issues.
As an Automotive Technologist, you acquire knowledge about new technology in advanced electronic, hydraulic and auto-technical systems and communicate this knowledge to your colleagues.
For example you can be employed as:
- a consultant/trouble-shooter in larger garages for cars, lorries and buses, construction and specialist machinery, and other vehicles, e.g. trains
- a consultant/trouble-shooter in importers’ technical departments
- an engineer/technician in racing teams in Denmark and internationally
- a consultant in after-sales and supply
- an expert in fault detection on engines in industry and technical services
- a teacher in the motor and vehicles field.
