Study programme about databases, programming, operating systems and the organisational context of IT systems
On the Computer Science programme, you learn about databases, programming, operating systems and the organisational context of IT systems.
You will study a combination of:
- software construction,
- software design,
- database design,
- operating systems,
- IT security,
- networks and project management.
You will also learn how to apply the knowledge to solve various IT problems at corporate level.
The AP degree in Computer Science is a 2½ year study programme consisting of 5 semesters.
The first four semesters will be based on theory and pratice whereas the last semester will consist of work placement in a company abroad or in Denmark.
The purpose of the internship is to give the student the opportunity of testing in practice his/her learning skills from the first semesters by working in a company in a relevant profession on a job-like basis.
You have the opportunity to go abroad at the 3rd, 4th and/or 5th semester.
The programme takes 2 years and 5 months to complete, The first 4 semesters are subject oriented and in the 5th semester the main thesis is elaborated in close co-operation with a company in Denmark or abroad.
The programme consists of the following subjects:
– General Business Knowledge in an IT Perspective:
- Project Management and Organisation,
- Business Economics,
- IT Strategies.
– Systems Development:
- Systems analysis,
- Systems design,
- Development Strategies.
- Algorithms and Data Structures,
- Object-oriented Design Patterns and Architectures,
- Programming languages,
– Internet Technology:
- Operating systems,
- Concurrency control,
- Security and Safety,
- Computer Architectures,
- Networks and Network Architecture.
The Computer Science Programm includes a number of commercial subjects, such as:
- business organisation,
- production management,
- environmental conditions in the industry.
We believe that you learn best by working with specific tasks in practice. Therefore, student activities are less focused on traditional teaching and to a greater extent built around activities where you play an active role yourself. You will have co-responsibility for and influence on your own learning, and feedback will be an important part of the study activities.
Besides traditional teaching, the study activities will include project work in small groups, guest lectures, cases and assignment work, where you through cooperation and dialogue solve specific tasks along with your fellow students and with your lecturers as counsellors. Furthermore, you will be challenged in digital study activities.
STUDY AND WORK
Normally study programmes are scheduled as a full-time course of study. However, we try to create an environment where you can study full-time and also work at a part-time job. We do this in order to help you strengthen your business skills.
As a result of this, you typically have two half days or one whole day off every week (beside week-ends), which you can use on your part-time job, together with your study group or on your own preparation.
You will be part of an international environment and you will meet students from Europe and other parts of the world.
Due to the practical aspect of your education, you will know how to work efficiently in a company from the very first day at your job.
INTERNSHIP MAY LEAD TO JOB
During your studies you will complete an internship and work on a final examination project in close cooperation with a company. This very often leads directly to your first job.
Typically you will start your job as a programmer, system developer, IT operator or network consultant. Your employer may be a private company or a public, national or international organization.
In many cases the academy may help sudents with job searches through sponsor companies in their network in the IT sector, through job consultants or our CV database.
HIGH EMPLOYMENT RATE
The employment rate among computer scientists is high and there are many well-paid and promising careeers among the students.
Job functions will typicallybe within the areas of: planning, designing and programming computer systems.
Your future tasks may range from technical problem solutions to the management of projects.
The possible functions are:
- IT co-ordinator (responsible for purchase and application of IT-equipment),
- computer-base administrator,
- and new job functions keep emerging within the IT-area.
