Do you want to be the creative force behind a collection’s image, outline the flow of the collection and work as a fashion designer?
You are visual, curious and love clothes and fashion. You have a good grip of trends, and find it easy to express yourself visually. You think about clothes and fashion 24 hours a day. No matter where you are, you notice what people wear, and you have an opinion about cut, shape, and colour.
The Fashion Design programme focuses on the design of commercial collections for various target groups.
You will learn how to choose your materials, make use of visual tools, and how to work with trend research and analysis to create innovative designs.
COLLABORATION WITH FASHION INDUSTRY
You will also gain valuable insight into the business elements of the fashion industry, and you will collaborate with our other Design, Technology and Business programmes in order to get a strong business understanding.
COMPETITIONS AND EXCHANGES
Former students have taken part in the Nordic design competition ‘Designers’ Nest’ in connection with Copenhagen Fashion Week, carried out research in Paris and gone on exchanges in the UK, Italy, Canada, etc.
As a designer, you are part of the entire design process. You will work closely with pattern designers and play a role in sales meetings, photo shoots and PR activities.
3 TYPES OF DEGREES
An Academy Profession (AP) degree is an undergraduate academic degree, duration of 2 years. The 2 year AP degree is similar to the first two years of a 3-year Bachelor degree.
After the AP degrees you can add another 1.5 years (Top-up degree) and get a bachelor degree.
After graduation with a Bachelor degree (3.5 years or 2 (AP) + 1.5 (Top-up) years) students can continue their studies in Denmark or abroad to get a Master’s degree.
Throughout the programme you will acquire knowledge of trends, development of ideas, materials and product development making you able to carry out a design process from the first idea to the finished fashion product.
The course programme focusses on providing you with skills in preparing a graphic and visual material as well as presenting and arguing in favour of your ideas.
You will be up-dated on the development within design and the line of business.
You will sketch on paper but also work with computer programmes such as Photoshop and Illustrator. You will create your styles on industrial machines in the workroom.
close contact with fashion companies
During the course of study, you are in close contact with the business community, in which you, for example, develop concepts and/or products in cooperation with – or receive tasks from – a business. You will also be an intern in a business in which you can try out your competencies in practice.
