Interested in sales, business and marketing with an international perspective

If you enjoyed the Marketing Management programme and would like to continue your business studies, then the 1½ year a BA top-up in International Sales and Marketing is an obvious opportunity for you!

ABOUT EDUCATION

The study programme will prepare you for practical and complex work in sales and marketing from an international perspective.

To give you the opportunity to transfer theory and methodology into reality, the study programme includes a three month internship with the aim of giving you a first-hand impression of the work environment in the international sales and marketing business. The internship will give you the exact skills needed to land an exciting job after your graduation.

Programme structure

Semester 1

1st semester’s compulsory theme is ‘Sales and due diligence‘ and focuses on the following

  1. The customer in focus
  2. The industry and competition
  3. Innovation
  4. Methodology

1st semester also includes ‘Methodology and the Theory of Knowledge’.

1st semester is completed with a semester group project provided by an external client.

Semester 2

2nd semester’s compulsory theme ‘Business development in an international perspective’ focuses on the following:

  1. Developing the sales basis
  2. Implementing the sale
  3. Follow-up

Furthermore 1st and 2nd semester both include the disciplines: Marketing, Logistics, Management and organization, Law and Economics.

On 2nd semester you will also have an optional theme. The theme can be selected from a list of options or it can be self-selected. Study groups of 4-8 students work with the optional themes. The optional theme is concluded with a joint seminar where each study group presents its findings based on a synopsis covering the various issues and solutions of the theme.

2nd semester is concluded with a semester group report (4-8 students) on business development in an international perspective provided by an external client.

Semester 3 – Internship

The aim of the internship is to give you a chance to apply the theory and the educational issues of the two first semesters in practice in a relevant company and job function.

The internship can be compared to a full-time job with the same demands to work, performance, commitment and flexibility that you, as a BA graduate, would be expected to meet in your first job. The internship must be relevant to the scope of the programme.

Semester 3

The Bachelor Project demonstrates that you can combine theoretical, practical and developmental elements in addressing specific and relevant issues in practice.

The Bachelor Project is completed in collaboration with a relevant company and demonstrates your ability to apply your knowledge and skills from the programme. The project should reflect both the academic level of the programme as well as its professional relevance.

The optional theme, internship and bachelor project together provide you with the opportunity to have an influence on and to tone your competence profile according to your individual focus.

International possibilities

International knowledge and experience is very useful for you and our society. You will get important insights into other countries’ culture, which will make you very attractive on the Danish and international job market.

International profile

As a student at UCL University College you can get an international profile during your study. Depending on your chosen study programme you can go on short international modules, study a semester or do your internship abroad, and participate in international projects.

Going abroad is an adventure, which will equip you with skills and experiences for life. You will develop your self both professionally and personally, and you will get friends and a network abroad.

INTERNSHIP

The aim of the internship is to give you a chance to apply the theory and the educational issues of the two first semesters in practice in a relevant company and job function.

The internship can be compared to a full-time job with the same demands to work, performance, commitment and flexibility that you, as a BA graduate, would be expected to meet in your first job. The internship must be relevant to the scope of the programme.

Practical experience

One of the things that characterises the study programmes at UCL University College is that you will get a very practice-oriented education. You will e.g. work on practical cases in class, and work on projects with real businesses. However the most practice-oriented factor during the study is the internship, which is an integrated part on all studies at UCL.

The internship is your chance to use and test your knowledge and theory ‘in the real world’. The internship also gives you the opportunity to test what exactly you want to do with your education when you graduate.

When you need to find your first job as a graduate you will not only have theoretical knowledge, but also important experience on how it is to work in your specific field of interest.
