The Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management Programme is

Areas of expertise are management, marketing, personnel and development. Utilizing the combined knowledge of commercial, cultural and innovative aspects and principles of sustainable development with methodical considerations in the planning and organization of services.
Employment most often found in middle management, but becoming an entrepreneur or working with trainees is also an option. It equips you to interact and collaborate in management teams and effectively build customer relations with people from various educational, linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
The programme is progressive and depending on your area of specialization, you work within:
- Tourism Management i.e. in booking, tourist and travel agencies, charter and cruise tourism.
- Hotel and Restaurant Management i.e. at conference centres, hotels, restaurants, spa and wellness and B&B.
- Service Management i.e. consulting and training companies, health and treatment centres.
Internship and Thesis
Part of the education takes place in close cooperation with practical cases and the industry. You must complete a 13-week compulsory internship within your choice of specialty. Either in a Danish or international company. Choices of specialty are between:

A Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree gives you access to following top-up programmes:

A top-up takes one and a half years.
A top-up gives access to Master’s programmes. The vast majority of graduates choose to get a job and get some work experience prior to further studies.
The two-year-program is divided into four semesters, 120 ECTS.

The third semester is a term of internship. You will be encouraged to utilize your education in a more practical manner. Internships with a variety of companies can be performed giving 13 weeks of academic credit. During the internship, you will participate in the completion of several different tasks together with one or more of the company’s employees. You can choose to complete your internship in Denmark or abroad.
Try out theories and methods hands-on during your internship on the Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management programme
In the third semester you will be going on an internship within your chosen field of specialisation. The internship is an excellent opportunity for you to build a network with the business community while testing your theoretical skills in a practical setting.
The internship can begin in the month of July or August the year after you have commenced your studies and end in late September/October. During this period of time, you must complete an thirteen week internship.
We strongly advise you to start looking for internship host companies in the autumn before you will need to go on your internship.
The purpose of the internship is to:
- provide you with professional competence within your field of specialisation
- ensure integration between theory and practice
- contribute to your professional and personal development
- ensure continuity over the course of studies in that your final exam project must also be based on the company where the internship took place.
The internship may take place in Denmark or abroad. If you want to go abroad, you can apply for grants with the help of UCN.

A good study environment means everything
At the Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management programme we value a good study environment where you can get involved and socialise with your classmates.
To this end we arrange introductory events, parties, talks, company visits etc.
Study trip abroad
In the second semester we will arrange a study trip for you and your classmates. The purpose of the trip is to provide you with new and international input from the service, hospitality and tourism industry and to expand your professional knowledge.
The duration and destination of the trip varies from one year to the next; previous classes have gone to e.g. the Netherlands, Miami and Dubai.
In addition to social networking with your class mates the trip will feature visits to several businesses in the following categories: hotels and restaurants, tourism, sports and leisure.
A company visit will typically have the following agenda:
- Brief introduction of the company
- How the company acts in the market
- How the company markets/sells its services
An international environment
Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management programme can be studied in Danish as well as English lending an international feel to everyday life at campus. During the course of your studies there will be various joint events for students of all nationalities just as the field trip is also for all students. This allows our students to increase their knowledge of other cultures and continuously improve their English skills.
